The stock market provides equity(shares of companies) to those who buy and sell it. Here people make deals to buy and sell stocks. The stock market is not like a shop or a building. It is in electronic form. You can buy or sell shares of companies in the stock market through computer. We cannot buy or sell shares in the stock market without a stock broker. There are many types of stock exchanges in India,like benlore stock exchange,madrase stock exchange,kshetreey stock exchange but there are two main stock exchanges among them.

Who participates in the stock market?
From individuals to companies invest in the stock market .People who buy or sell shares share market in the stock market are called market participants. These market participants are divided into several categories.
1. Domestic Retail Participants - A person who is a citizen of India and lives in India.
2. Domestic assets management companies - These are domestic mutual fund companies like sbi mutual fund, DSP black rock, Fidelity Investments, HDFC AMC etc.
3. Domestic Institutional Investors - Big Indian investment companies like life insurance company of india (LIC)
4. NRI'S and OCI - Indian citizens living abroad.
5. foreign institutional investors - foreign companies, foreign management companies, hedge funds etc.
